Sprint rocks… my phone calls

Today I got an email from Sprint, letting me know that if I filled out a survey about my customer satisfaction, I would receive a free ringtone. Well, duh…

I spent the next 5 seconds answering a few questions, and then the next 30 minutes picking out my ringtone. I wasn’t prepared for that kind of decision at that moment. I’m not sure why it was such a huge decision… but it was. A ringtone says a lot about a person. When you step outside traditional rings, beeps, or vibrations, you are making a statement. I won’t go into how certain choices make which particular impressions, but you all know what I mean. When you’re standing in line at the gas station, and you hear someone in line behind you receive a call, and it’s playing something like “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy”, you don’t even have to turn around to know what the guy looks like.

If I’d had time to prepare for this, I could have thought of all of the bands I like, which songs I like the most, or whether I wanted to go back to my old favorite… Soul Bossa Nova. But instead, I found myself browsing through whatever I saw that looked interesting. I considered a few before rejecting them (for “statement” purposes), but finally decided on G. Love & Special Sauce’s ‘Cold Beverage’. An oldie, but still a great song. There’s a video here, if anyone needs reminding of the tune.

So my song is chosen, it sounds cool, and the only statement it makes about me is that I like cold beverage… s. And possibly that I may be kind of thirsty.
